How do you determine net income using a stockholder's equity statment?
Q. I need to determine a company's net income for 2009. I have 2008 and 2009's stockholder's equity statement. How do I determine net income?
Asked by surfergirrl - Mon Jun 23 14:27:56 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. If there has been no other entry that affects stockholder's equity, then the change between the two year balances reflects the net income. If on the other hand the 2009 value is lower than the the 2008 value, then the company experienced a net loss.

A. Convertt velocity into SI units 40.0km/h = 11.11m/s Calculate the acceleration of the car in stopping V = u + 2 a*s 0 = 11.11 + 2 a* 0.018 a = 123.5 /-0.036 a = - 3429.4m/s (-ve sign confirms slowing down F(net) = m*a F(net) = 850*-3429.4 F(net) = - 2 914 951.7N The negative sign indicates that the force is in opposite direction to the direction of the car, which is what we would expect Answer 2 914 951.7N. in opposite direction to direction of car.

What is the rule about attacking a severed volleyball that hits the net?
Q. Volleyball rule: A ball is served to your team but the ball hits the top of the net and continues over to you. A person may not attack the ball that clears the net but what is the rule when the ball hits the net on the serve? Can a player return the ball in that situation? I was told that the net makes the served ball a dead ball for a serve and can be returned as a normal ball sent over the net.
Asked by JAMES W - Sat Mar 15 22:05:00 2008 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. It is still a served ball, and should be treated the same as the one that cleared the net.

What is the difference between a net book and notebook?
Q. We are buying a laptop and the smallness is very convenient for us, so we like the net book. The main goal for the computer we want is internet and microsoft office. Would a net book work the same as the laptop?
Asked by Strawbana - Wed Dec 31 11:29:54 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Netbooks tend to be a lot smaller and cheaper than notebooks. They really aren't recommended as being someone's primary machine. Netbooks tend to trade off things like CD/DVDROM drives for better battery life and being more light-weight. They'd be great for takings notes in class or other less intensive computing activites, writing papers, web surfing, etc. Notebooks tend to have faster, dual core processors, DVDRW drives, but tend to be heavier, have shorter battery lives, get hotter and therefore need more battery power and fans to cool themselves down, have bigger screens, and are therefore more expensive. So buy what suites your needs best :)

How do you calculate income tax when generating a net profit after two net losses?
Q. Say a firm has a net loss of 8803 in one month and 6573 in the second month. In month three, it makes a profit (before income tax) of 20824. There are no dividends and the retained profits at the start of the month are -6573. How do I calculate income tax for that month, assuming we are taking into account the previous net losses?
Asked by Dactylonomy - Sat Apr 12 07:06:21 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Can't tell you about Australia. In the USA, losses are carried forward. Any profits will offest those losses. If the profits exceed the losses with a net gain, only then will there be a tax obligation. The losses will carry forward until a net profit is realized, even from one year to the next.

I have seen the curtains I want on gazeebos in patio furniture displays, but cannot find the curtains by themselves. A. 30 feet. Unless you're doing a jump serve, then you can be as far over the line as you can get without touching down. For some players, that's quite a distance.

A. It is 30 feet. USAV (club) has switched to the metric which is 29 feet, but the NFSHSA (high school and junior high rules) has not switched yet. Your net is 7' 4 1/4" so that you can mark the height you need. If you are right handed, put your left foot slightly forward. Toss the ball 2 to 3 feet above your head and in front of your right shoulder. Hit it with your palm and your wrist firm. Do not step with your right foot. Only drag your right foot if you need to. No movement is best. Do 100 tosses without hitting the ball every day. More if you have time. Start closer to the net at about 10 feet. Get 5 serves over the net and then take 1 step back. If you get it over, take another step back. And so on until you get to the… [cont.]

A. 1 part bleach, 20 parts water, a little stronger is fine. Rinse well afterwards. I have been doing this with all my gear for years, everything from tiny nets to large tanks. ***Edit To Add*** I thought this old wives tale of "Bleach will kill all your fish" had been put to rest years ago; Chlorine bleach added to water is nothing more than strongly chlorinated water, and when dealt with as that the results are the same as strongly chlorinated water.

How do I figure out my monthly net income?

Asked by sasmom - Tue Mar 18 14:51:53 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Well that comes out to $932.08 per week that you would be making. So most months you would make$3,728.32 before taxes and then 4 months of the year you would make $4,660.40 before taxes. I'm not sure what Florida Taxes are, but my gross weekly income here in Arkansas is $567 and I bring home $472 - So I have $95 held out every week in taxes. Yours would be almost double that per week so I would say you would make around (give or take depending on how you file [single, married with dependants, etc.]) $2,968.32 per month in the months with 4 weeks and $3,710.40 in the months with 5 weeks. This is just a rough estimate.

What is the magnitude of the average net force acting on the car?
Q. An 810 kg car accelerates from rest to 27 m/s in a distance of 120 m. What is the magnitude of the average net force acting on the car?
Asked by Yogi_Bear_79 - Mon Nov 17 19:47:10 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Given: vo = 0 m/s (inital velocity) v = 27 m/s x = 120 m m = 810 kg first, we need to solve for a (acceleration) v^2 = vo^2 + 2 a x 27^2 = 0^2 + 2 a (120) 729 = 240 a (divide each side by 240) a = 3.04 m/s/s Force = mass x acceleration F = (810 kg) ( 3.04 m/s/s) F = 2462.4 F = 2500 (Correct significant figures) Hope this helps :-) ... i just covered this in class a couple of weeks ago!

Asked by Tam - Mon Jun 25 21:28:06 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. To find the average acceleration, subtract the two velocities and divide by time. You will have to convert your velocities to m/s: 55 - 33 = 22 *1000/3600 = 6.1 m/s 6.1 m/s / 21 s = 0.29 m/s^2 Multiply mass times acceleration to get force: F = 2150 * 0.29 = 626 N Darn! 1 second too late!
