An employee may be defined as: "A person in the service of another under any contract of hire, express or implied, oral or written, where the employer has the power or right to control and direct the employee in the material details of how the work is to be performed." Black's Law Dictionary page 471 (5th ed. 1979). In a commercial setting, the employer conceives of a productive activity, generally with the intention of generating a profit, and the employee contributes labour to the enterprise, usually in return for payment of wages. Employment also exists in the public, non-profit and household sectors. To the extent that employment or the economic equivalent is not universal, unemployment exists. From Wikipedia under the

I have a list of employers I want to talk to and a list of questions for each employer. After they answer my questions, how do I transition to giving them my resume? Asked by orbit - Sun Sep 20 21:30:31 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. Unfortunately, most job fairs are a waste of time. Don't go with the plan to go from booth to booth handing out resumes like halloween candy. Have a few with you in the event a particular recruiter you like requests your resume. A better approach, if you think a particular job fair might be beneficial, would be to collect the recruiter's business cards. Ask lots of questions including what jobs they are filling and qualifications they require. Then go home, customize your resume and cover letter to the job and personally address the recruiter/hiring manager. Email is OK, but I prefer professional grade paper, folders and full size envelopes to help set myself apart. I left this employer not on good terms and I feel they are trying to add income to the 1099 that was left from the previous year. Is there specific documentation i can request? Answered by Scott K - Wed Feb 7 19:03:29 2007 What should I do if my employer did not claim my tips or pay me?
Q. My employer during the 2006 calender year never issued paychecks/pay stubs. I assumed this was because I worked for tips and any hourly wages were going to pay my taxes. Just recently I was informed that I would not be receiving a W2 neither. I now have no proof that I was working for the year, and I cannot file my taxes. Are the actions of my employer legal? Is there another way to file taxes without this information? I did not keep a record of my tips because after each shift my boss asked us to write it down for him. I assumed he was keeping a record. The only thing I have are my bank statements that show I made two cash deposits a week. Is that enough? Asked by roberfell - Wed Feb 7 21:12:50 2007 - - 7 Answers - 0 Comments A. No, what your employer did was not legal. Even if you were a tipped employee, you still were owed a minimum wage, even though it's a lot lower than the minimum wage for employees who are not tipped. If you have records of what you made in tips, you can still file for that amount of income. You should probably contact the IRS regarding this employer. Look for a different job right away. Good luck. Answered by Judy - Wed Feb 7 21:18:34 2007 From Yahoo Answer Search: "employer" This RIDE May Be a Scary One
