Nounopinions
FrenchNounopinions f.
From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. An opinion is a belief that may or may not be backed up with evidence, but which cannot be proved with that evidence. It is normally a subjective statement and may be the result of an emotion or an interpretation of facts; people may draw opposing opinions from the same facts. There can be the public opinion, or other types of opinion. In economics, philosophy, and other social sciences, analysis based on opinion is referred to as normative analysis (what ought to be), as opposed to positive analysis, which is based on scientific observation (what materially is or is experimentally demonstrable). Historically, the distinction of demonstrated knowledge and opinion was articulated by Ancient Greek philosophers. Plato's analogy of the divided line is a well-known illustration of the distinction between knowledge and opinion. Opinions can be persuasive, but only the facts they are based on can be said to be true or false. 'Scientific opinions' are opinions formed via the scientific method, and so are necessarily evidence backed. A scientific opinion, representing the formally-agreed consensus of a scientific body or establishment, often takes the form of a published position paper citing the research upon which the opinion is based. 'The Scientific Opinion' is somewhat equivalent to 'the public opinion' and means the complex collection of the opinions of many different scientific organizations and entities, and also the opinions of scientists undertaking scientific research in the relevant field. Accounting Site Consuelo Herrera, CAMS, CFE BellaOnline's Accounting Editor Mark- to- Market Accounting Guest Author - Mary Salzman My last article was a book review of the The Smartest Guys in the Room. This book covered the Enron debacle and is part of the series of articles I have written on SOX Section 409 Real Time Disclosures. The application of mark-to-market accounting was brought to the attention of the public immediately following Enron's filing for bankruptcy. Mark-to-market accounting is actually a fairly easy concept to understand if you break it down to its lowest common denominator. Q. Well, I have been nagging my parents since christmas to get me the ipod touch. I have the classic, and its not very good anymore. I held onto the classic for 2 years. So i thought i could get something new. If you have the ipod touch. What are your likes and dislikes for it? Would you recommend it? Or is there another ipod out there you find better to recommend? any additional information helps. I would just like to get out side opinions on the ipod touch. Thank you. Asked by Brooklynn - Tue Mar 3 17:31:32 2009 - - 9 Answers - 0 Comments A. I have to hand it to Apple -- the iTouch is a great device. In addition to playing music, the Wi-Fi internet looks great, and the 3.5 inch screen delivers crystal-clear videos. I have an extensive music collection, but the 8GB model holds more than enough for me at any given time. I mostly use it while working out, and I was concerned that it would be harder to navigate than a Nano or that I might damage the touch screen; fortunately, I had no such issues. I purchased a 1st Generation iPod Touch a few months ago, and I was hesitant about upgrading to the 2nd. There are no new earth-shattering changes or additions, but it is certainly an improved model. I had three problems with the 1st Gen that drove me crazy; thankfully, two of which… [cont.] Answered by Richard - Tue Mar 10 13:43:44 2009 What are your opinions on sword collecting?
