How to request a leave of absence from college?
Q. I am in grad school, and would like to take a leave of absence for the fall semester because I want to transfer to a different school in the spring. I am far enough along in my studies now that if I stay in my current program for another semester, I'll have too many credits to "start over" at another university and will have to stay (I can only transfer 9 credits to a new program and I already have 18). I don't know if I've gotten into the new schools yet, though I've already applied, so I don't want to completely burn bridges at the other school. I am in good academic standing right now. With that in mind, how can I request a leave of absence? What should I say? I can't cite family reasons because I don't have a family. I don't want to… [cont.]

A. I think the key in this situation is letting your adviser know and making sure all of the offices on campus are aware of your plans. Unfortunately, the different offices don't always talk to one another, so to avoid a headache in the future you might want to do a little leg work - you shouldn't have to, but the truth is that the business office and academic services don't always connect the way they should, trust me, just let them both know. You don't have to say why you are taking a leave of absence. You also shouldn't feel you have to hide that you are transferring. Q. I am a teen and i am re-doing my room. I need some websites that allow you to request a catalog with their furniture.. Do you guys know any sites?

A. Pottery Barn, Bombay, Pier 1, most retail stores that have a site will have an area, either at the top or the bottom of the main page, that says "Request a catalog".

What is required to request a psychiatric evaluation of someone suing you?
Q. My landlord is crazy and wants money that was not agreed upon. Many people that know her think she is crazy and she mentioned herself once she had mental issues. How do you request that she undergo a psychiatric evaluation if she attempts to sue you?

A. It sounds like you have a slam-dunk. Let her sue you and force her to provide the "proof" that you owe the debt. Then, when she loses, she gets to pay court costs!
